The 11th Asia Pacific Symposium on Cochlear Implants

The 11th Asia Pacific Symposium on Cochlear Implants and Related Sciences was held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on 19-22 September 2017. Dr Morrissey had the pleasure of attending this event, together with approximately 400 other surgeons, clinical specialists and researchers from around the globe. It is always useful to discover first-hand what is happening interstate and overseas, to encounter conditions and problems which are uncommon in Australia and confirm that SACIC's practices and outcomes are comparable with premier clinics abroad.

Innovation in different aspects of hearing technology were presented at the conference with a focus not only on future therapies and interventions, but also on disease prevention and treatment goals. Dr Morrissey enjoyed plenary and keynote speeches, structured panel discussions and free paper presentations on cochlear implantation (surgery and audiology), implantable hearing aids, otology and neuro-otology. Of particular interest were video sessions on challenges in cochlear implantation, bone anchored hearing aids, active middle ear implants and reimplant surgery.

At SACIC we learn from those we work with and actively encourage continuous improvement, professional and personal development with the goal of achieving best outcomes for our clients.
