John Rice

'From giving to receiving the gift of hearing'

Dr John Rice (OAM) pioneered cochlear implant surgery as an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon at the Women's and Children's Hospital in South Australia in the early 1990's - giving the gift of hearing to children with hearing loss. With the support of SACIC, Dr Rice's journey has now come full circle after undergoing surgery to receive a cochlear implant.

Dr Rice is now participating in conversation more easily and enjoying sounds in his environment, including the birds around his home. Dr Rice is also speaking on the phone with greater confidence through the direct streaming capability of his Nucleus ® 7 Sound Processor.
